Achieving Healthy Skin at Any Age

Did you know that the skin is the largest and most visible organ in your body?  As skin ages, it becomes thinner and less elastic. Collagen, hyaluronic acids, and elastin (the tissue that keeps the skin firm) become weaker causing thin skin, lines, and wrinkles.  Gravity takes over, causing our skin to sag and our fat pads to droop.  Brown spots and blood vessels may also become noticeable, giving us uneven skin tone.  Fortunately, advances in facial rejuvenation are enabling dermatologic surgeon like Dr. Mann to reverse the appearance of aging and sun-damage.   Dr. Mann and her team at UH Dermatology at Westlake are dedicated to help you restore a more youthful look and achieve healthy skin at any age.

Facial Skin Rejuvenation:  Who and Why?

More and more men and women are treating themselves to some form of facial skin rejuvenation every year. The reason: your appearance greatly impacts how you feel and how others feel about you.  It’s therefore perfectly natural for people to want to stay healthy and look as young as they feel inside.  Great strides in surgical techniques and technology now enable dermatologists to achieve subtle, effective aesthetic results. Procedures are typically less invasive, safer and heal more quickly than ever before. Further, these treatments are performed in our office, not the operative room, which translates to added convenience and cost effectiveness.

Your Skin Rejuvenation Expert

Dermatologists are trained and experienced in the use of a wide range of surgical and non-surgical methods for treating various skin conditions, including benign growths and skin cancers. As experts on how skin ages, dermatologists are uniquely qualified to employ a variety of both corrective and preventive techniques to keep skin healthy and youthful looking. In fact, dermatologists pioneered many of the treatments used to preserve and maintain the skin.

Why choose Dr. Mann?

Although there are many new options to rejuvenate the face, your results are in the hands of the person who administers your treatment. As a board certified dermatologic surgeon, Dr. Mann is medically trained on both your skin and facial anatomy.  Dr. Mann also completed an additional fellowship in Dermatologic Surgery, Reconstruction, and Minimally Invasive Cosmetic Surgery.  She is the Director of Aesthetic Dermatology at University Hospitals Case Medical Center.  Dr. Mann lectures locally and nationally to physicians, and has published many articles on facial rejuvenation.  Rest assured that your treatment will be performed by Dr. Mann– a qualified, certified dermatologist who will recommend the most appropriate treatment for your skin, and who has the skill and artistry to help you look your best.

Common Approaches to Facial Rejuvenation

A combination of methods may be used to rejuvenate your skin – this depends on your age, health, sun exposure history, and your skin type.   Dr. Mann may combine these treatments to give you the best overall outcome.

Botox and Dysport skin aesthetic cleveland dermatology cosmetic

Botox and Dysport

Both Botox® and Dysport® improve lines and wrinkles by relaxing the muscles associated with facial expression. The actual treatment is well tolerated and takes just a few minutes with no “down time” or prolonged recovery period.

Cosmetic Fillers- Juvederm, Restylane, Radiesse skin aesthetic cleveland cosmetic dermatology

Fillers

Soft tissue fillers are generally used to “plump up” or reduce wrinkles and fill hollows in the face, giving the skin a smoother and more pleasing appearance. There are numerous filler products available including hyaluronic acids (Restylane®, Juvederm®, Belotero), hydroxyapatite (Radiesse®), and longer acting products such as Sculptra.

Chemical Peels- TCA, Salicylic Acid Peels, Vi Peel, Jessners, skin cosmetic aesthetic cleveland dermatology

Chemical Peels / Microlaser Peels

Chemical peels and Microlaser Peels are beneficial in the treatment of fine wrinkles, skin discoloration, age spots, as well as dull skin texture. Fresh skin is then regenerated, which is smoother, less wrinkled and more even in color. Chemical peels and Microlaser Peels may cause reddening of the face, similar to a mild sunburn that typically lasts from a few days to one week.
